* Note : When e-mailing us, be sure to include a relevant subject heading......

Emails without a subject are flagged as being spam & automatically deleted. We get literally hundreds of spam e-mails each day and haven't the time much less inclination even if we did, to sift through them all - and then spend several more hours removing the occasional embedded virus.

Thus anything even remotely resembling a spam gets instantly deleted without ever being opened or read !

Contact Us Form

We often receive precious tapes where we found no enclosure, handwriting was illegible or key contact information was omitted.
This causes delays and in some cases, all we can do is await a phone call inquiring where your transfers are !
One way to combat such communications breakdowns, is to submit this form, then print a copy and enclose with your shipment.

Contact Form

When Shipping any Media for transfer or evaluation, be sure to include your full return mail address (No Postal Box numbers, as UPS will not deliver to PO boxes), your phone number, e-mail address, the desired target format and number of copies if any, and finally labeling instructions if known.  Number media in the sequence you desire to have transferred.  Unlabeled media will be transferred in random order...   Credit card info or check for at least 1/2 the total estimate must be included or phoned in before work is commenced. Every week it seems, one order will show up without so much as a clue as to where it came from - who or how to contact or what they desire to be done.

For shipping vintage 78 records, please read the special section on how to package records for shipping
(To learn how to pack records for shipping....)  Click here...

For video tapes and similar media, simply wrap the tapes in a plastic bag to keep out packing debris and place in a padded box.

We recommend either shipping via UPS or Fed-X owing to their excellent track records and online tracking capabilities. If shipping via the USPS, be sure to purchase insurance and tracking services, as they are not automatically provided.

Return Shipping

Return shipping is via UPS Ground.  We will ship via the USPS only by special request and then, ONLY to locations not within the contiguous United States, where UPS does not offer competitive rates.

Note: The USPS has a poor track record when it comes to handling packages. We accept no responsibility whatsoever should packages sent via the USPS get damaged or lost.  In most cases, shipping via the USPS also requires us to make a separate trip to the post office for international shipments or even some shipments to locations not within the contiguous 48 states due to Homeland Security issues, requiring the physical presence and presentation of  acceptable identification documents by the shipper.  (The days of placing a package in the mailbox with appropriate postage are gone)......  Due to the time involved (waiting in line etc), please note that we only make one trip to the post office each week.

NOTE: Effective July 1, 2004 we are no longer accepting any work originating from within the State of Maine !

The State of Maine has levied a new "Service Provider Tax", which is in addition to the existing Sales Tax reporting requirements.  The implementation of this new tax requires a few businesses such as Video Interchange, who sells both services and materials in various & often complicated combinations, to now track and collect two separate taxes, and report the taxes in two separate filings to two different State agencies.  Furthermore, the classification of our services and the application and distribution of each item being deemed either Service or Sales taxable, is different for nearly every job, and depends upon a confusing set of rules often open to interpretation as to how each is to be categorized... So unique is this operation, that the new law does not clearly address how many of our services are to be classified. Obtaining  written rulings for each job component & how each may be treated differently depending on combinations of other services or materials provided, would be a time consuming and expensive endeavor.

After carefully reviewing the new laws and contacting Maine DOR several times for clarification, and each time receiving conflicting interpretations, (9 calls & 9 completely different answers to just one single question), we have reached the conclusion that the expense and time spent administering and reporting the new tax, will cost substantially more than the total gross amount of billings originating from Maine.

Regrettably we have therefore decided we cannot accept any work from customers residing in the State of Maine. This situation is unique to Maine, and does not affect any other states or countries...

Payment

We accept Visa and MasterCard......   Credit Card info must be included in your shipment or phoned in before work is commenced. When included with your order, please clearly type or print your name EXACTLY as it appears on the card, the type of card, card number, billing address the bank has on file (where the bank sends the statements) and expiration date. Your credit card will not be charged until your order ships or services are initiated. We strongly recommend that you never send any credit card information to anyone in an email.

We also accept payment via personal or company checks. Orders will ship subject to clearing. Note that "bounced" checks will incur a $20 additional service charge.

US Postal as well as International Money Orders are accepted as well.

When paying by Check or Money Order, the check amount is to be made out at least 1/2 of the total estimate. Should overpayment be made, a refund check for the difference will be included in the return shipment.

Note: We do NOT keep any credit card information on file once processed. Repeat customers must still supply credit card info each time.

Notes

This started off being conceptualized as a one or two page web site.  Somehow it managed to grow into all this. If you would like more video history, tech info. or have simply found this site helpful, please let me know.  As time allows, I'll add sections on format comparisons or whatever suits your fancy !  Any complaints about it being too long ? Too technical in nature ?  Not technical enough ?.......  Please email and let me know.  Your input is welcomed !

Many Thanks

Bob
